Let's learn about instruments?
Here's what my beautiful Junior group learned about musical instruments this semester.
For the first part of the class, kids were able to closely examine the instruments as they tried to answer the following questions: What materials are used to make each instrument? What family does it belong to? What sound does it make?
To help me with that, I had the joy of having my amazing friend and musician Rebeca Araujo at our junior class.
She showed the kids her instruments and allowed them to look, touch and play them. They also discovered the sounds and design of each instrument
For the second part of the class about musical instruments, kids explored instruments sounds in a guessing game using Makey Makey and Scratch.
Then, we examined the hardware and software to learn how to make our own musical devices simulating real instruments.
Kids also wrote and recorded some information about each instrument.
They rock!
