Educandário Vila Boa - J408 - Junior 4 - Teacher Gabriel Gomes

At the end of Chapter 7, in which we had studied professions, students had to produce a collage craft by using pictures cut out from magazines and the corresponding equipment handed out by the teacher. After doing it, students brought parents to class and described what the professional they chose do and where he/she works.

After studying professions and what professionals do, students produced a fan to wrap up the content studied. Then, students were asked to walk around talking to their classmates about what professionals do. It was great!

Educandário Vila Boa - Junior 4 - Teacher Gabriel Gomes

Last class we had two quite productive moments in class: students interviewed each other in order to know what they want to be in the future and they also had to arrange the slips in order according to what professionals do. Students liked the activities, especially when they had to play the reporter/interviewer.

In this lesson students had to write their answers on plastic bags which had cardboards inside them. The questions asked concerned the time of the day they do some of their daily activities, so that we managed to practice telling the time and also daily activities. They liked being able to write and erase their answers on plastic bags.

Educandário Vila Boa - Gyn - Junior 4 - Teacher Gabriel Gomes - Houses

Last week we started studying parts of the house, a content which was supposed to be linked to the previous topic studied, daily activities. So I decided to use a google tool called Jamboard, which allowed students to relate the parts of house to the daily activity they are able to do in each of them. After that, students were asked to produce their own folded-paper house in order to walk around and ask their classmates which daily activities they do according to each part of their houses. It was quite productive!!

Educandário Vila Boa - Junior 4 - Teacher Gabriel - Spheros

Hey there! This was a really dynamic activity I did with my Junior 4 students using spheros. As we were studying sports, students were supposed to move the spheros to the squares, which were labeled with sports, according to definitions they got on slips of paper. That was a good way to practice the target vocabulary!

Junior 3 - Educandário Vila Boa - VBJ308 - Teacher Gabriel Gomes

For our 2 last days of class, we had awesome activities which concerned the importance of taking care of our marine world. The students were introduced to the topic by doing a miming activity, using Osmo to get familiar with sea animals vocabulary and being exposed to maps which had to do with how much human's actions have impacted the marine world. At the end, students had to do their own flips, in which they had a marine problem to consider and thus were supposed to propose a solution for that. We had a great time!

Junior 3 - Educandário Vila Boa - VBJ308 - Teacher Gabriel Gomes

These awesome stop-motion videos were produced by my Junior 3 students last week. By being instructed by the teacher about how to deal with the app which creates stop-motion videos, students produced the scenarios and characters of the video and took pictures of them in order to make their own stop-motion videos. The videos are a bit short, as it takes many pictures for a small percentage of the video to be produced. However, as students were having their first contact with the tool, it was a quite productive job. There are two videos, being the first produced by Ana, Daniel and Henrique whereas the second was made by Julio, Davi and Julia. After making their videos, students were asked to describe what was happening during their videos by using the present continuous (Content studied during chapter 4).

This is a picture of the monsters my Junior 3 students made. Based on a story of a hungry little monster, students were asked to produce their own monsters. After cutting and coloring it, students were given magazines from which they got pictures of what they wanted to put into their monsters' belly. After producing their hungry monsters, students had to ask their partners what each other's monter was eating, that allowed them to practice the present continuous (content taught throughout chapter 4).

For this hands-on activity students had to make their own Mystery house based on the story read during chapter 4. Students were asked to label the parts of the house and also draw its furniture. After that, students' cats were attached to a stick and by changing the position of the cat in different rooms they were supposed to ask their partners to close their eyes and guess where the cat was. This was a good way to practice the content studied (parts of the house) and also bring to reality what they had read in a story from their books.

After studying some actions (jump, run, walk, eat, etc), students were asked to make their own dogs and act out the actions called out by the teacher. The dog was chosen to be the animal to be set up by the students because it had been used during the lesson to introduce the content. Students had a lot of fun when acting out the teacher and their classmates' commands.

After studying the parts of the house, the students were given two sheets of paper to, by following the teacher's intructions, set up their own houses. After doing that, students had to go to the front and present their houses to their classmates. There were some very creative drawings!

This is a picture of students using the exciting app "Plickers". It is a game in which students are given codes which had been previously related to their names. As the questions are shown in a projection, students must raise and position the code according to the alternative he/she wants to choose. For this activity the questions concerned weather and ASL (American Sign Language).

P.S: On this blog you can find useful information about what Plickers is and how it works:

While making a review of weather, students were asked to take pictures of their classmates miming a weather they had chosen (ASL is part of many of our lessons). After using the iPads to take the photo, the students had to edit the picture according to the weather his/her classmate was miming. At the end of the activity, students were asked to present their pictures. Below you can find their own drawings. It was a great moment! :)
